At the Sunburst State pageant, Cassadee was supposed to sing a medley of songs from Disney. A couple of weeks before, I had given her "I Believe" and although we had worked hard on the vocals, we had not even begun the performance. So, when Cassadee was on stage and her music started, I realized her mom had given them the WRONG TAPE! Cassadee stood and looked at me like "What Do I Do?". The director let her leave the stage and took the next kid in line while I talked to Cassadee. There was no time to get the other tape so I told her to do this one. She freaked out because she didnt know the performance and I told her to "fake it". She was NOT happy with me but did it anyway. It was wonderful!!! When she WON TALENT I rain onto the stage and hugged her so tight she couldnt breathe! She backed away, looked at me like I was nuts and said "Miss Marie, YOU'RE WEIRD!"

"Every day my students make memories for me that will last a lifetime and every day I have blasts from the past. So you never know what will pop up here on any given day. I hope you enjoy reading about them as much as I have enjoyed living them."     Marie

Recently, while in the recording studio, I noticed Haley was obviously moving around a lot while she sang. I told her to quit "performing" while she was recording and she said loudly into the mike "Well, you taught me so good I just cant HELP it!"

In 1995, shortly after moving to Florida, I had a 5 year old named Abbi, who was quite a pistol! One day after working on her vocals I told her to sit down so I could show her the performance to her song. Abbi put her hands on her hips and said: "I have a better idea. Why don't you sit down and let me show YOU a thing or two!"

When he was about 5, Seth was competing in talent at the Imperial NATIONALS in Houston. He was a clown anyway so every time he walked on stage, his parents and I held our breaths. Well, his handsome little self walked out in his white tuxedo and his music started to play and he just looked at everybody with those big blue eyes and grinned from ear to ear and he stuck his fingers in his mouth and said "Uh, I FORGOT TO BRUSH MY TEEF!"

In the late 80's I had a 5 year old named Morgan matlock. Boy, was she a pistol!! We were practicing her interview before Imperial Nationals and asked her if she had any pets. She said she used to and asked if she could tell us about her fish. Of course we said yes. "Well", she said, as she acted out the entire feeding process,  "I didnt just feed them breakfast and lunch and dinner. I fed them breakfast and dessert, and lunch and dessert and dinner and dessert. And do you know what happened??? THEY JUST POPPED!". I laughed until I CRIED! (Not only did that little girl go on to win Beauty AND Talent at Imperial, but she also won Miss Texas and was 2nd runner up to Miss America!
